Who we are
Visiting Angels Des Moines provides non-medical in-home care for seniors and adults with disabilities across Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Grimes, Johnston, Clive, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill and Altoona. One of our own caregivers came to us exactly this way: after years serving elderly and disabled Iowans, her program lost funding and she was looking for another way to help. She found it here.
What you’ll do
- Help clients with bathing, dressing, toileting and grooming
- Support independence: helping, not taking over
- Assist with mobility and fall prevention
- Prepare meals, give medication reminders, and keep up with light housekeeping
- Run errands and help clients get to appointments
- Care for clients living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s and other conditions
What you already know
How to respect someone’s dignity while helping with personal care. How to stay patient when a day goes sideways. How to work on your own and still follow a care plan. That experience puts you ahead from day one.

Over 40 hours of paid, hands-on training in your first year, in person at our Urbandale office on real equipment, with certificates to show for it. Transfers, dementia care, mechanical lifts and more.
